In addition to Sunday worship, Woodlawn CRC offers many opportunities for fellowship, learning and service, for its members and friends. If you want to get involved, please consider one of the following:
The is a small group for college students or college age people who are looking to broaden and/or share their walk in faith with others. This is an informal meeting geared toward getting to know each other, getting connected to the church and working to find our place in God’s plan. Meetings will take place every other Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. If you have a scheduling conflict, feel free to come late or leave early. Snacks will be provided.
is a series of fellowship-oriented groups designed to build relationships within the church. At the beginning of the calendar year people sign up for membership and can choose to join a group of adults only, or a group that includes children. Participants are usually divided into groups of nine by the Fellowship Committee as a way to insure that both couples and singles are included. Each group will have four or five households represented. Gatherings take place in homes or restaurants, either monthly or bimonthly, and can meet for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and potlucks – whatever the group decides. Feel free to participate even if you do not have the facilities in your home to accommodate nine people.
Groups commit to staying together for one year, so that in the span of a single year members will build and deepen relationships with seven or eight other members of the congregation. These groups are ideal not only for members, but also for associate members, or for people who are contemplating church membership.
always welcomes new members. Every other month people who love movies and ideas gather to analyze and discuss works of cinema. Everyone watches the movie beforehand, the discussion is free flowing, and good refreshments are always served.
Join friends on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. for a fun-filled game of ping pong at the Ministry Center. All levels and abilities show up. Coffee and conversation flow freely.
There are two men’s slow-pitch softball teams at Woodlawn - an over 40 team and an under 40 team. If you enjoy good-hearted competition, consider joining. We play from May to August, usually on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings, and we have a great time together.
The stitch group meets regularly on the second Monday of each month to do stitch work (and other crafts) together. Sometimes they just talk and eat. In fact, rumor has it that some of the members don’t really know how to stitch, but just enjoy an evening with friends.
Book Clubs
